The problem
Baldur’s Gate 3 on macOS locks the camera. The right stick only rotates, zoom is a fixed arm, and the camera never gets close to your character.
What I built
A camera mod for Apple Silicon Macs with free vertical look, zoom on L3 and the scroll wheel, a camera close enough to see a face, and separate sensitivity for controller, trackpad and mouse.
The result
Out on Nexus Mods and GitHub. It never touches game files or saves, and works in single player and multiplayer, in both camera modes.
What it does
- Lets you tilt the camera up and down with the right stick, the trackpad or a middle-mouse drag, from −45° to +85° (adjustable up to ±89°).
- Adds zoom on L3 plus the right stick without switching camera mode, and zoom on the scroll wheel.
- Brings the camera much closer, down to 0.5 units, close enough to see a face.
- Has six separate sensitivity settings, for each axis and each input device.
- Comes in two versions: Camera Only, or Camera + WASD if you also want to move your character with the keyboard.
Good to know
- Your game files and saves are never changed, and it doesn’t need Script Extender or any
.pakfiles. - Tested in single player and multiplayer, in both RPG and tactical camera modes.
